Hello! My name is Whitney DePew (Salgado) and I wanted to introduce myself to those who don't know me! I am the new Youth Minister for middle and high school students here at St. Alice. My job will be to serve families and help them become more active in our parish and become life-long disciples! I have been a parishioner since 2001 when my family decided to move from Creswell to Springfield where my younger brother and I were born. St. Alice has been my home away from home and it's where I discovered the love of God.
Can't wait to meet you! I'm currently planning out the upcoming year with youth-focused events and (God willing) be up and running by October! I figured families will be focusing on navigating distant learning and didn't want to overwhelm you all with more! If you have ideas or suggestions please let me know! I want to know what is important to you and what your needs are.
There's so much uncertainty lately and wanted to take a moment to encourage you to pray. God listens to our prayers and wants you to make time for Him. We are so blessed to have Perpetual Adoration at St. Alice! God is waiting for you. I personally can't go through my week without spending time with Jesus. He loves us so much! I want to be a bridge that will help you and be there for you. If you want to sign-up for Adoration but don't know how, give me a call!
I am also currently looking for volunteers. I need upperclassmen who can help me be mentors for our middle school group and parents! The holidays will be here soon and it presents a great opportunity to help those in need, especially those who have lost their homes in the fires. If you feel called to help the less fortunate I will be able to connect you with the appropriate people.
I plan to take the next few weeks calling you individually to know how I can pray for you and check-in. A registration form for Youth Group and Confirmation classes are now available. Thank you for your patience as I navigate through this new role. Please pray for me so that God may use me to help the youth in our parish.
