St. Alice is preparing to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the dedication of the current church. On May 12, 1965, the Most Rev. Edward D. Howard, archbishop of Portland, presided at the dedication of the then new building, which includes the baldacchino and stunning 800 pound altar--carved from a giant fir tree that grew in the Springfield area.
To celebrate the anniversary, parishioners are invited to attend the All-Community Mass at 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 12. After Mass, a first-class relic of St. Alice will be on display for veneration.
