Music Mondays- Open to all parishioners (all languages, all ages) who want to learn how to read & sing the chants of the mass. We will be learning the building blocks of reading chant notation (neumes and square notes) through games and different exercises. We will also work on the necessary vocal tone and musicality of singing Gregorian chant. Everyone has something to contribute to the mass; let's all work at making our contribution as beautiful as we can whether it be in the pew or from the choir "loft". Class is in the Church from 6:00-6:45 on Mondays. Parishioners who are interested in singing in the choir can stick around from 6:45-7:30 to rehearse the choir music (o ensayar con Alexandra y el coro de los niños). Contact Sarah Zielinski if you have questions: szielinski@stalice.org or 458-247-7023
Youth Choir- Open to all students in the 2nd through 8th grades. We will be learning through games and exercises beautiful vocal production, music literacy, and the musicality required of singing good sacred music. We will also use our rehearsal times to prepare music for a few liturgies each season: mass, sung vespers, etc. This is an excellent opportunity for our youth to challenge themselves in learning a new skill, building upon their capacity for beauty, and contributing to the liturgy. Rehearsals are in the library/piano room (next to the parish hall) from 4:00-5:00 PM every Monday. Contact Sarah Zielinski if you have questions: szielinski@stalice.org or 458-247-7023
